| Building Static Pages |
The Build HTML utility is an extremely powerful and useful tool.
Using it, hyperseek will create actual .html (or .shtml) files for you
with the exact content of your categories. These "static" pages look and
act exactly the same as if you were to manually browse every category in your
directory. The advantage to using static pages over the ones created on
the fly by the .cgi programs is that once they're created, the staticly built
pages do not need to look up anything in your database, which will save
the load put on your server caused by lookups being done for every category.
Disadvantage? you have to rebuild the static pages each time you make a change
to a category or your listings. In the end though, the advantages of reduced
server load, faster page load, and the ability to submit your built pages
to the big search engines far outweigh the disadvantages...

Using the Builder
- Alt Tag for Images
This is a search engine submission helper....by placing some
keywords in the ALT tag of any images hyperseek draws,
you can, hopefully, get a bit higher in the searches when
you submit your built pages to them for spidering.
- Second Index
You can have the builder create a second index file for you.
This would be useful if you're building, for example, into
a location off of your main direcory (like "/categories", for example).
You can use the second index to make your home page identical
to the built index page...
- Category
You can elect to only build certain categories, rather than
the entire directory. Select the category(ies) you'd like to
build from this list, using either your control key (windows)
or Apple Key(MAC) to select multiple categories.
- How to build
If you've selected categories to build, then use the Build
selected categories option to just build the ones you picked.
Alternatively, hyperseek can build every page in your search
engine, or just the pages that need it (Build changed pages).
Hyperseek does keep track of which pages need to be rebuilt
so the 3rd option might save you some time.
