ADD A LINK
|
 |
| Add Link |
We've broken the form into 2 images here, for ease...

Use the add link system in the admin program to add a listing directly
into your database. Unlike the add url program that your visitors interact
with, listings added with this admin utility are immediately "live".
The first part of the form asks you for basic link information:
- Category
IF you get to the add link form from the main hyperseek admin program
or from the main admin "Quick Jump" bar, you'll be presented with a list
of categories to choose from, to assign to this link. You may assign a
link to multiple categories by selecting them with your mouse. (Windows
users: Use CTRL while clicking, MAC Users: Use the apple key).
If you were browsing the directory from the admin program and clicked the
"Add URL" link, the category you were browsing in will automatically be
chosen for you.
- Name
Enter the contact name of the webmaster/entry for this listing.
- Email
Enter the email address for the webmaster/entry for this listing.
- Title
Enter the website title, or the text you'd like to appear as the title
for this listing when it's searched on. An option you have in the main
admin Configuration is whether or not to include the title text as part
of the record that is searchable....keep this in mind when entering the title.
- URL
Enter the Full URL (inlcuding the http://, mailto:, or news://) to be associated
with this listing.
- Rank
One of the options you have in the main admin center is the "What's Cool" threshold.
By giving a site a rank number here (any integer), you can control how high up in
in search results it'll show. If the number you enter here is higher than the
number you entered as the "cool threshold", then the link will be graced with a "Cool"
icon in search results. Note, that this rank will only be used in search result
sorting if you tell the Configuration to sort by Rank. Regardless of how you
sort listings, the cool icon will still be drawn.
- Description
Enter the description to appear with this listing in the search results. This,
like the Title, can be parsed by the search engine when searches are being
done, so keep that in mind when entering the description, and the keywords (below).

- Search Words / Keywords
Enter in the words you'd like this link to be found under when your visitors
are performing searches. Separate each keyword (or phrase) with a comma. It's
a good idea to evaluate your title, and description when creating your keywords
so you don't duplicate them....(Hyperseek ignores duplicate keywords in searches)
- Site Review
As the administrator, you have the ability to review each listing. If you
choose to review the listing you're entering, enter your review here (HTML is ok).
In order for the review to be found, you'll need to follow 2 other steps: 1.
Put the <<REVIEW>> tag in your listing template
to draw the link. and
2. Build the site reviews from the hyperseek admin
program to create the .html
page for the review itself, making it viewable by your visitors.
