Under last month's amendment to the Federal Telecommunications Act, starting
Jan. 1, 2001, you will no longer be able to use a cell phone while driving
on interstate highways unless you have a "hands free" adapter. Most major
manufacturers do not expect to have volumes of their models to market in
time, accordingly, the supply is much smaller that the demand and retailers
are charging between $100 and $200 dollars per unit. However, AT&T
Business Systems contracted this week with a local manufacturer to supply
100,000 units by December 2000. We are offering the units first to
employees and "friends" of AT&T. The kits are reportedly compatible
with any mobile phone - one size fits all.
Attached here is a diagram and photograph of the unit. They will be priced at $8.00 each and employees may complete a Product Deduction Voucher for payment. |
